NEW WORK

new work by Dan Brown titled West Mitten
"West Mitten"
16 x 20" acrylic on canvas. July 2009

This is one in a series of four canvases inspired by my recent visit to Monument Valley Tribal Park in Arizona. Monument Valley is where you find those iconic mesas that have appeared in various movies and advertisements over the past decades. A new Navajo-owned and operated hotel, "The View" offers rooms, each of which contains a balcony overlooking this awesome vista. At dusk, the light changes dramatically and one can see the distant headlights of cars driven by resident who live and work in the Valley. Three of these paintings, representing a different time of day and night, are included in the Gallery.
