"Lilac Valley"

This is a departure from the latest round of Southwestern images and was inspired by a dream I had. In the dream, I was driving south on the local interstate and gazing at the Deerfield River Valley off to the east. To my amazement, all the trees were lilacs of differing hues and the sky was a luminous kind of early evening haze. This was a difficult painting in that it had its own idea of how it wanted to look despite my pre-conceived ideas. I learned to listen and I'm the better for it. Close to the dream and beautiful enough.
